55 children die in Nashik hospital

On Friday, a meeting was held at the Mantralaya to look into the issues at the Nashik Civil Hospital. Nashik MLC Jayant Jadhav and Maharashtra Health Minister Dr Deepak Sawant were at the meeting, along with senior health department officials. Sawant is scheduled to visit the hospital on Monday.

Boy born with underdeveloped organs admitted to neonatal ICU; doctors unhappy with ‘court-ordered’ premature birth, say time is not for court to decide

Based on the order of the Supreme Court allowing her to ‘terminate’ her pregnancy in the 32nd week, a 13-year-old gave birth to a boy at the State-run JJ Hospital on Friday. The delivery was via C-section, and the infant was immediately shifted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, doctors said. They added the child, weighing 1.8 kg, was born prematurely with underdeveloped organs.

One in 100 people in north India suffer from celiac disease, say experts

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that occurs due to ingestion of a protein called gluten which is present in cereals.
In patients with celiac disease, the gluten protein is not digested completely leading to damage to the small intestinal mucosa where food is absorbed. 

New Delhi: One in 100 people in north India suffer from celiac disease, a disorder in which the lining of the small intestine is damaged when foods with gluten such as wheat, rye, and barley are eaten, AIIMS' doctors said.
